Yet another racing festival to be handled by Ryan’s Cleaning, the Punchestown race meeting is one that we always look forward to.

There is some of the best jump racing of the year with 10 Grade 1 races over the 5 days; this is the National Hunt Season Finale, the rematch after Cheltenham and Punchestown attracts the best horses from Britain to take on the best of the Irish. The principal players from Fairyhouse, Cheltenham & Aintree all hook up again.

Tuesday - the opening day’s feature is the Grade Kerrygold Champion Chase over two miles and is a race that has been won in the past by the likes of Skymas, Viking Flagship, Klairon Davis, Flagship Uberalles, Moscow Flyer and Newmill.

Wednesday has the Grade 1 Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup as the feature and the recent winners of this race include some of our very finest steeplechasers like Cheltenham Gold Cup heroes, Imperial Call, Kicking King and War of Attrition while other winners include multiple Grade One scorers Florida Pearl, First Gold and Beef Or Salmon.

Thursday’s big race is the Grade 1 Ballymore Properties Champion Stayers Hurdle and this relative new addition to the race programme has witnessed victories for Derrymoyle, Anzum, Limestone Lad and Asian Maze.

Friday is Ladies Day with fantastic prizes on offer for the best dresses and also features the Grade 1 ACC Bank Punchestown Champion Hurdle. Another relatively new race, the legendary Istabraq was the first winner in 1999 while other champions like Moscow Flyer, Hardy Eustace and Brave Inca have also triumphed in this two mile contest.

Ryan’s Cleaning are the proud event cleaning contractors for Limerick race meetings.

Limerick racecourse opened in October 2001 to a record crowd of 18,000. It is the first built-from-scratch racecourse in Ireland for 50 years and has first rate modern facilities in the Hugh McMahon Stand.

It is the seventh different location for racing in Co. Limerick since the first recorded fixtures in 1790. Its predecessors were Bruff, Rathkeale, Newcastle, Lemonfield, Ballinacurra and Greenpark. The previous course at Greenpark closed in 1999 having held racing for 130 years. The present course is built on the site of a stud farm 250 acres of which is occupied by the racecourse.

Limerick racecourse has something for everyone; a race meeting to suit your style, pocket, taste in music, taste in beer and taste in jockeys. In fact, racing in Limerick probably hosts the most varied series of meetings of all the courses in the country.

There are 3 bars and several fast food and self service outlets within the Hugh McMahon stand. Limerick is the only sporting venue with a Supermac’s outlet.

A reserved table in the Panoramic Restaurant on the second floor of the Hugh McMahon Stand offers first class cuisine to groups of all sizes in a modern setting. Enjoy your own reserved table and a sweeping view of the racecourse, with deluxe catering. The restaurant has full bar and Tote facilities.

On the third floor the Private Corporate Suites can accommodate groups of up to 100.

The Limerick races are held from the 5th - 7th April 2008.

The Irish Grand National on Easter Monday is the highlight of this 4 day festival starting on Easter Saturday and ending on Easter Tuesday. We are proud to be the cleaning contractors for this prestigious event. It’s a six day event for us with pre and post cleaning also taking into account. But, we look forward to the Grand National every year as it marks another twelve months of hard work and success behind us!

The Grand National is one of the biggest days in the Irish racing calendar; first run in 1870 and it is still the most valuable race in Irish jump racing, with a prize fund of €250,000.

Last year Butlers Cabin took top honours in this historic race, following in the footsteps of greats such as Arkle, Flyingbolt and Desert Orchid.

With two graded races and almost €200,000 in prizemoney, Saturday is ‘Day One’ of the racing extravaganza.

Sunday is a family day and there are always great packages on offer in the restaurant.

Monday is Ladies Day, which is an extravagant affair, although a hot whiskey and a warm wrap should be essential wardrobe items for the day!

The launch of the Fairyhouse Grand National takes place this Wednesday 5th March.

Irish Racing has a personality and atmosphere not found anywhere else in the world. This is especially true at the racing festivals which are the highlights of the racing season from Easter through to December.

Ryan’s Cleaning have the priviledge of being a part of these truly atmospheric events.

The Festival season starts in style with the Easter Irish Grand National Festival at Fairyhouse Racecourse, just outside Dublin. Munster hosts its own exciting Easter Festival in the heart of Steeplechasing country at Cork Racecourse in Mallow. The crowds who throng these meetings every year move on just two weeks later to the Irish National Hunt Festival at Punchestown, in Co.Kildare, the Thoroughbred County. This is Ireland’s Cheltenham and like its Cotswold’s counterpart its loyal followers spend a year in wistful anticipation of the next festival as soon as this one has ended

The month of May brings the first of the summer Classics at the home of flat racing in Ireland - The Curragh. The two-day meeting of the Irish 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas attracts the top European thoroughbreds, along with their human connections. The Co.Kildare course is also a magnet for the local population – probably the most racing-literate people in the world, together with a cosmopolitan and eclectic mix of racegoers and socialisers from the city.

The biggest Flat racing event of the year - The Budweiser Irish Derby Festival weekend falls at the end of June. Take the world’s top thoroughbreds, the international entourage, the racegoers and socialisers listed above, multiply by ten and add the biggest day-long party in the country and you have the essential flavour of the Derby weekend in Ireland.

In July the scenery and the pace changes dramatically with the Killarney four-day festival. The course is discreetly placed between the town and the lakes and enjoys the most picturesque setting in Ireland, where locals and tourists mingle to enjoy the races.

It used to be said that the Galway Racing Festival brought the city of Galway to halt, now it brings the entire county to a halt. Whereas the Derby Festival is a one-day extravaganza, Galway at the end of July hosts a week-long celebration, which spills out of the racecourse to fill the city and county alike. If you are anywhere within 30 miles of Galway, then you are “at the races” – if not, you’ll be watching or reading about it and wishing you were there.

In August racing moves to the beautiful seaside setting of Tramore for four days of racing in a wonderful holiday atmosphere. We return to Kerry for the Tralee Festival in late August which manages to combine the traditional Kerry enthusiasm for a great day’s racing with the equally competitive sport of the world-renowned Rose of Tralee Festival.

In September we stay in Kerry for the marvellous seven-day Listowel Harvest Festival. The end of an ideal Kerry summer: the hay is saved; the football team is on its way to Croke Park and the town and country people are ready to pour into Listowel to enjoy this great race meeting and its traditional atmosphere

In October the two-day Gowran Park meeting near Kilkenny is a welcome reminder of the sport that has been had all summer long, while we pause in anticipation of the great Christmas racing festivals at Leopardstown and Limerick Racecourses. Each year record crowds turn up for the Christmas and New Year meetings – not so much a close of the year past, as a thrilling curtain-raiser to the coming season and the promise of even greater Festival fun.
